Week 9 image I didn't create

My first sculpture made at SOU. I did not take this image, and I wish it was better because i am proud of this piece.

Week 9 image I created

Another deplorable image, yet I think the work is stronger. One wouldn't know from looking at the image, though!

Week 7 image I didn't create

More old, old work. Its helpful for me to see the progression of my body of work, from 3 years ago until now. This image is much better than the one I took, but still not excellent. probably not grad school quality work or image.

Week 7 image I created

This is another image of my work, and clearly I photographed it because it is hideously yellow.
I am very unskilled when it comes to photography.

Week 6 image I didn't create

This is really old work. I mean really old. I just want to compare my ability to photograph work with the photos of others. This was photographed more professionally, though I don't think its much better than the photo I took.

Week 6 Image I created

This is a photo of some past work. I have been looking at a great deal of past work because I am working on grad school applications.

Book Assignment

Here is my hideous book. It was insufferably difficult and I am happy its done.

Here is my cubee craft creation. I tried to make a slutty rich woman, like the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Scratch Assignment

This is my second scratch assignment. I drew some doodles. I liked this assignment because I didn't feel pressured to do anything specific, so I could just doodle.

Scratch Assignment

This is my first scratch assignment, and I liked better than anything else we have done yet. I like the freedom of only using the parts of photoshop that I understand.

Week 5 image I created

This is a scanned image of my childhood journal. I will incorporate text from this journal with the images from my childhood to make new work for my Winter exhibition.

Week 5 image I didn't create

These are images of me, my sister and my mother, from my childhood. I have scanned them into the computer in order to use them for work that will be in an upcoming show.

Picturing the other assignment

I made this picture at the Black Sheep. These people were complete strangers to me, and i walked up to them and asked if I could take their picture. I wanted a photo of an older married heterosexual couple, since I am a young lesbian girl who cannot legally marry. again, I did not want something posed and "typical," so I asked if I could get a photo of their hands, showing their wedding rings. The husband did not wear his ring, ever, and so preferred to have his right hand photographed. I like that although their faces are not shown, one can tell by their hands that they are older. Also, they assumed I was taking a photo showing their faces, so they were smiling at the camera the whole time. The husband gave me his card so I could e-mail him the photo. They were very gracious, since I was obviously anxious to be approaching strangers.

Picturing the other assignment

This is an image of my girlfriend folding clothes. I used the continuous shoot function on the camera to take numerous images one after the other. This way I could get pictures of motion. I wanted something that was not posed or stiff looking, and I think I achieved this. Behind her is a mirrored art deco piece where one can see her image folding clothes as well. I liked the relationship between the background and foreground.

Picturing the other assignment

To make this picture, I set up the camera with a ten second timer on the desk in front of the couch. I then pressed the button and sat on the couch. I took a series of zoomed in photos as well as zoomed out, and this was the best of the lot. I did not want to deal with color, I felt it would be too much of a distraction.

Week 4 image I didn't create

This is an image someone took with my camera of my male friend wearing my female friend's high heels.

Movie poster image 2

...and my second poster. The hands are actually some of my work, and are now coming to get you.

Movie poster image 1

Here is my first attempt at a movie poster.

Type assignment image 2

More type...this time with "K."

Type assignment image1

Here is my first image for the type assignment. It is the letter "s," multiplied.

Assignment 1 altered image 2

Here is an image of my work "Incorporation," which is clearly possessed. This is my second altered image.

Week 4 image I created

Here is another plate photo. I took photos of all 140 plates in my series, and this is John Gilbert Graham, a famous mass murderer. It was really difficult for me to get a good photo without too much glare or shadow, and this is what I came up with.

Week 3 image I didn't create

Kelli, my partner created this image for the book I am creating as a companion piece/reference for my show. It still needs to be cleaned up a little around the edges. I love how simple, yet effective this book cover is.

Week 3 image I created

I created this image for the postcard for my show that opens on Thursday. I wanted a provocative yet not too political image. I'm not very adept at this, so hopefully its not hideous.

Week 2 image I didn't create

An acquaintance took this photo, and I like the composition. The girl under the word "dyke" was not posed there, it was just a coincidence. Since she is, in fact, a dyke, the photo is quite amusing.

Week 2 image I created

Here is another example of my photography skills. This is an image from a ceramics conference I participated in during spring term 2009. The work is titled "Limited Edition." I am posting these images to remind myself that I need to work on this. In contrast with images taken by my partner Kelli, mine are even worse.

Week 1 image I created

This is an image from my BFA show last spring, titled "Incorporation." I am just learning how to photograph my work, so this is where I am at. An image similar to this one ended up on my postcard.

Week 1 Image I didn't create

This is an image that was made of some of my work. My partner was trying to take an appropriate postcard photograph for a ceramic show I participated in. It was supposed to be mysterious and/or ambiguous, I don't think we ended up using this particular image in the end, but may use it in the future.

Assignment 1 image 1 altered image

I am trying to upload an image I created using photoshop on Wednesday, but I don't think it's working. I used three of the existing images from the class blog and put pieces from each together to make a new image. It is hideous. I figured out (with some help) that I needed to save the image as a j.peg, so it would load.
